How To Root And Install Twrp Recovery On Tecno Phantom 6(A6)

One of the  best thing about the android OS is how it gives you the ability to tweak almost anything on your smartphone to your satisfaction. But to get full control over your android smartphone, you need root access. Although there are many one click root apps that can root your android devices automatically within few minutes but they don't work for the latest OS version like Marshmallow and Nougat.

If you own the Tecno phantom 6 and phantom 6 plus which runs on android marshmallow 6.0 out of the box, then you might be facing some difficulty rooting your Phone. But all thanks to hovatek for porting a custom recovery for this device, I will just put you guys through on how to flash the custom recovery onto your device and also how to install SuperSU for root access.

Requirements:

=> Unlocking the boot-loader of Tecno Phantom 6.

=> Twrp Recovery by Hovatek. Download Here.

=> SuperSU.zip. Download Here.

=> Setup Adb and Fast boot into on your PC by following the guide HERE.

How To ROOT Tecno Phantom 6 And 6 Plus

=> Extract the Twrp you downloaded and copy the recovery.img file into the same folder as the Adb and fast boot you installed.(it usually inside the c: drive folder).

=> Download SuperSU from the link above and copy it directly into your sdcard.

=> Enable USB debugging and OEM unlocking from your phone's developers options settings.

=> Unlock Tecno Phantom 6 bootloader by following the steps here.

=> Connect the phone to your PC with a USB cord and boot it into bootloader.(instruction is included in the bootloader unlocking guide).

=> When the phone enters Fastboot, load the TWRP recovery to the phone by typing the command below then pressing Enter.

fastboot boot recovery.img

=> Your phone should automatically boot into TWRP recovery mode

*In TWRP, if you get a prompt asking you to swipe to allow modification of the System partition, tap KEEP READ ONLY

*If TWRP offers to root the phone, select NO

=> From the twrp menu option, just select install.

=> Navigate to the location of the SuperSU.zip you copied earlier and select it.

=> Just swipe to confirm the installation and wait until the installation is completed.

=> After that just reboot your phone and you are good to go.

That's all guys. You have just successfully rooted your phone. You can confirm your root access by downloading root checker from playstore.
