Telecom Operators to Block Voice and Video Calls on Whatsapp, Skype, Viber and Facebook
We all know that the current bad economy in the country is affecting a lot of companies and they are all trying to maximize profit in every way possible, even if it means taking it out on the customers.
As we all know, most of this social media apps now offer voice and video calls which the telcos claims reduce their revenue. So what they intend to do is to block voice and video calls on most of this apps such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Skype etc.
According to telecom operators in Nigeria, they have been loosing a lot from international calls and they predict that they may loose around N20trn to N30trn before the end of 2018. So because of that, they are planning to restrict subscribers activities on social apps like Skype, messenger, WhatsApp etc.
I don't know if I should blame this on the current economic recession, greed by the telecom operators in Nigeria or lack of active NCC body. But all I know is that this is not a good idea.
