Essential Phone Confirmed to Receive the Android 8 Oreo update In Less than 2 Months time
The essential phone is one of the most recent smartphones to grace the market and as most of us already know, the device ships with the Android 7 Nougat straight out of the box. But plans are ongoing to release the latest Android 8 Oreo update for the device.
During a scheduled Reddit AMA which took place earlier today, Andy Rubin and some of the essential officials were available to answer some questions posted by users. When questions concerning possible Android 8 update was asked, Essential's VP of Software Rebecca Zavin confirmed that the update will be released “in the next month or two.”
"We are excited about supporting 3rd party developers. We'll be releasing our kernel and factory images in the next few days. Android O will be coming in the next month or two."
Aside that, it was also announced that essential plans to release two new accesories for its Smartphone in the coming months. The first accessory is the charging dock which was presented at the essential launch event, while the other one is a high-end audio accessory that's said to feature DAC support and 3.5mm headset jack.
Essential Phone owners will be able to attach these two accessories using the magnetic pins on the back side. Information on how much the accessories will cost or when exactly it will be available has not yet been announced.
