WhatsApp starts rolling out Picture-in-Picture (PIP) Mode for Android Users
I guess for now, WhatsApp is all about bringing some iOS exclusive features to the Android platform. First, it was the "swipe to reply" feature which lets you easily reply a message by simply swiping right on the message. Now WhatsApp has started rolling out the Picture in Picture (PIP) mode for Android users.
The PIP mode lets you watch third-party videos from major platforms like Facebook, YouTube and Instagram in a floating window while still typing, reading or scrolling through your chats. You can expand the video, play/pause or even move it to any part of the screen.
At the moment, this feature is still in development and it's only available for beta users only, which means there are still some bugs. One of the known issues is that the videos stops playing and the window closes once you close the chat or switch to another chat. This however doesn't happen on the iOS version.
If you want to try out the PIP mode on your Android smartphone, then you have to be on the WhatsApp beta version v2.18.301.
