After all the rumours and speculations, OnePlus has finally launched the much anticipated OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. While the OnePlus 7 happens to be a refresh of last year's OnePlus 6t with a few upgrades, the OnePlus 7 Pro on the other hand is a new smartphone from ground up.
The OnePlus 7 Pro features a 6.77-inch Quad HD plus AMOLED display with a 90hz refresh rate and a curved edge screen. This is the first smartphone from OnePlus to either come with a 90hz refresh rate or a curved display. The 90hz refresh rate on the OnePlus 7 Pro means a much smoother animations in the UI than on other AMOLED smartphones we have seen so far, the screen can also render high-quality HDR10+ colors.
The OnePlus 7 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset and it's available in three memory options which are the 6GB, 8GB and 12GB. It also comes with 128GB or 256GB internal storage with no option for expansion. The phone is running on OnePlus's Oxygen OS 9.5 which is based on the Android 9 Pie. The phone will get two years major Android OS updates which are Android Q and Android R. It will also receive three years of security updates.
Just like most other 2019 flagships, the OnePlus 7 Pro comes with a triple rear camera setup making if the first OnePlus device with three camera configuration. The main camera is a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor with f/1.6 aperture, OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization). It also has an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x zoom (74mm focal length) and a 16MP ultra-wide angle camera (13mm, 117°).
The OnePlus 7 Pro has a true full screen display with no notch or camera cutout. This was achieved by hiding the front facing 20MP f/2.4 sensor in a mechanically controlled pop-up camera.
Oneplus has also upgraded the battery capacity as well as the fast charging speed on the new flagship. The OnePlus 7 Pro packs a massive 4,000mAh battery with a 30-watt fast charging which is called Warp Charge 30. The phone comes with a new generation optical in-screen fingerprint scanner which is 38% faster than the OnePlus 6T and unlocks the phone in only 0.21 seconds. This makes it the fastest in-screen fingerprint unlock system in the world.
As far as pricing and availability goes, the OnePlus 7 Pro starts at $670 in US / £649 in the UK for the 6GB RAM/128GB storage, the
8GB/256GB storage goes for $700 in US / £699 in the UK while the 12GB/256GB storage will sell for $750 in US / £799 in the UK. The phone is available in Mirror Gray, Nebula Blue and gold Almond shade colour options.
