Xiaomi accidentally promotes its Memoji clone "Mimoji" with an actual Apple Ad
Xiaomi recently released it's new MI CC9 smartphone alongside it's Mimoji which is a shameless clone of Apple's Augmented Reality feature Memoji, but even with the glaring resemblance, Xiaomi denied that it's new Mimoji was in any way inspired by Apple's Memoji.
The company however made a bigger blunder this week when it accidentally promoted it's Mimoji with an Apple's music Ad which features the AR version of musical artist Khalid singing a song. This video was embedded in Xiaomi's product page for the Mi CC9 smartphone on e-commerce platforms JD.com and Suning.
Xiaomi's
public relations general manager
Xu Jieyun, has however come out to say that the Xiaomi staff uploaded the wrong content and the Ad video has now been removed from both e-commerce platforms.
The company isn't new to copying designs and IPs from Apple. Most of Xiaomi's older and a few of the newer smartphones is a copy of Apple's iPhone design, even the MIUI user interface is greatly inspired by iOS and the company's Airdots is another copy of Apple's Airpods.
