Xiaomi is set to launch the successor to the Redmi Note 7 which is the Redmi note 8 on August 29. This is just few days away and we already have a couple of leaks as well as official teasers on what to expect in terms of specifications.
Xiaomi's sub brand Redmi has taken to its official weibo account to announce that the upcoming Redmi Note 8 will be powered by Mediatek Helio G90T chipset and there will also be another model that will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 655 chipset which is the same chipset used in the Mi A3.
The phone will also sport a quadruple rear camera setup which will comprise of the main camera + super wide-angle + depth of field + super macro lens. The regular model will have a 48MP main camera while the Pro model will have a 64MP main camera.
The Redmi Note 8 will also retain a rear mounted fingerprint reader as on the Redmi Note 8 as well as a water drop notch which will house the front facing camera and a much smaller bezel than its predecessor.
Since the launch of the Redmi Note 3 in 2016, Xiaomi has maintained the 4,000mAh battery capacity on its Redmi Note series, but that might be changing soon as the Redmi Note 8 Pro is expected to come with a larger 4,500mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging, USB Type-C and 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Redmi Note 8 will be launched in China alongside the 70-inch Redmi TV on August 29 2019.
