NCC to block 9.2 million unregistered SIM cards - How to check it your SIM is properly registered
The federal government through the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) has ordered telecommunication operators in Nigeria to disconnect 9.2 million SIM cards without proper registration.
In a recent report which was sent by the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) to the new Nigeria Minister of Communication Isa Pantami, it was disclosed that there are 9 million, 200 thousand SIM cards in the country that are not properly registered in accordance with the standard procedure.
According to the spokesperson of the minister Ms Uwa Suleiman she said,
“The security implication of this irregularity is too grave to ignore and the Federal Ministry of Communications will not tolerate any actions or inactions that will compromise the nation’s security,”
She also added that,
“Minister expressed concern over the security implication of this discovery and further directed that the Telecoms regulator, should with immediate effect, ensure that all improperly registered numbers are duly reregistered."
Now all the four major telecommunication operators in Nigeria have released codes to confirm if your SIM is properly registered or not.
Confirm your mobile number(s) registration status to avoid being blocked by NCC.
- For MTN users - dial *789*1#
- For Airtel users - dial *746#
- For 9mobile users - dial 746 or 200
- For Glo users - text REG to 746 or 3456
If your SIM is not properly registered, make sure you visit amy registration center to properly register your SIM to avoid being blocked.
